Lavant House School and Rosemead School amalgamated in August 1995 and are now known under the combined title of Lavant House Rosemead and situated at Lavant House just north of Chichester in West Sussex. Both schools had a similar Christian ethos and complementary strengths and the early problems of such upheavals have now been sorted out.
The school buildings at Lavant comprise an 18th Century listed house, built of Sussex flintstone, and modern classrooms set amongst yew hedges and flintstone walls, the whole surrounded by fields at the foot of the Sussex downs. The school owns 14 acres and rents a further 45 acres of grazing land including a three acre snowdrop and bluebell wood. The stables form part of the school, with two yards, a fenced sand arena, a cross country course in the making and several shows each summer.
Academically standards of tuition and results are high, with a 96.7% GCSE pass rate and an average of nearly nine subjects a head.
Despite the small size of each year group, sport is competitive and successful; PE can be studied at both GCSE and A Level.
Religion is based on the local 12th Century village church, 400 paces away across the fields. All girls also attend the daily assemblies.
Boarding is flexible and homely with nearly one half of the pupils being residential. There are 3 - 6 girls in junior bedrooms, 1 or 2 at senior level and VIth Form have single rooms in separate areas with their own kitchen and common room.
